KUALA LUMPUR: Air quality in several areas across the country remained at unhealthy levels, with Johan Setia in Selangor recording the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 188 as at 4pm today.

According to the latest data from the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Cheras in Kuala Lumpur recorded an API reading of 177, followed by Nilai in Negeri Sembilan at 176 and Putrajaya at 174.

Shah Alam recorded 173, while Seremban and Tangkak each recorded 172.

IPD Serian in Sarawak recorded 171, followed by Batu Muda in Kuala Lumpur at 169.

Klang in Selangor, Pasir Gudang in Johor and Indera Mahkota Kuantan in Pahang each recorded an API reading of 167, while Tanjung Malim in Perak and Petaling Jaya in Selangor recorded 166 each.

Banting in Selangor, Alor Gajah and Bukit Rambai in Melaka, and Kota Tinggi in Johor each recorded 164.

Kuala Selangor in Selangor, Temerloh and Jerantut in Pahang recorded 163 each, while Balok Baru Kuantan recorded 162.

Larkin in Johor and Kemaman in Terengganu recorded 161 each, followed by Seri Manjung in Perak, Batu Pahat and Pengerang in Johor at 160 each.

Port Dickson in Negeri Sembilan recorded 159, while Paka in Terengganu recorded 158.

Tasek Ipoh in Perak and Kuala Terengganu recorded 157 each, followed by Balik Pulau in Penang and Rompin in Pahang at 154 each.

Sungai Petani in Kedah and Samarahan in Sarawak recorded 153 each, while Minden in Penang recorded 152.

Seberang Jaya in Penang recorded 139, followed by Segamat in Johor at 117.

Pegoh Ipoh in Perak recorded the lowest API reading among the stations listed, at 104.

Under the API classification used by APIMS, readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
