SYDNEY, July 28 — Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison says he is looking forward to working under new head coach Roberto De Zerbi, describing the Italian as an attack-minded manager whose style suits his game.
Maddison, who missed much of last season with a serious knee injury, said De Zerbi has already outlined his vision for the club, focusing on attractive football and improving the team's performances after a disappointing Premier League campaign.
The England international believes the squad is adapting well to the new tactical approach during pre-season and is optimistic about what lies ahead.
Tottenham began their pre-season tour with a 2-0 victory over A-League champions Auckland FC and will continue their preparations with matches against Sydney FC and Chelsea before the new Premier League season begins.
The club has also strengthened its squad during the summer transfer window, with several new signings arriving as De Zerbi reshapes the team ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Maddison said the focus remains on building chemistry, improving performances and ensuring Tottenham are ready for their Premier League opener against Brentford on August 22.
